 Live Oak

Live Oak is normally evergreen oak tree native to the southeastern United States.  The simple, typically flattish leaves have shiny dark green tops and pale gray botoms.  Open grown trees reach 45 ft. in height, but many span nearly 150 ft.

In the days of wooden ships, live oaks were the preferred source of the framework timbers of the ship.  Used for the USS Constitution the density of the wood grain allowed it to survive cannonade, earning it the nickname "Old Ironsides".

Cast in bronze with a finish in Antique Bronze (AB).

Hand made in the USA.
